Barack Obama Painted Living Room Rather Than Visit Ground Zero On 9-11

Filed under: Gateway Pundit — nhiemstra @ 6:59 pm

Barack Obama was too busy to visit Ground Zero on 9-11.
Instead he painted a living room.

Barack and Michelle spent their time on 9-11 painting a living room.
CBS News reported, via FOX Nation:

In a few months time, some family is going to be able to boast that the living room of their refurbished home was painted by the President and Mrs. Obama.

Wielding paint rollers and brushes, the Obamas laid down an even coat of “Cool Platinum” wall paint.

“you know, I don’t think anyone will have to re-do it, I hope,” said Mr. Obama as he finished one section of the back wall and stepped back to assess his work.

The First Couple was commemorating the 8th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which this year is designated a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

This really isn’t that surprising.
The Obama White House wanted to remake 9-11 as a socialist holiday this year.

TIME Mag Teases Conservatives

This is weird. She’s not an Obama?

The Return of Scipio wants to know…

Just who’s schooling whom?

No doubt, it’s probably another enthusiastic endorsement of Governor Palin and her family (kidding).

Extra Credit– Camille Paglia offers advice to Sarah Palin:

She also needs a shrewder, cooler take on the mainstream media, with its preening bullies, cackling witches, twisted cynics and pompous windbags. The Northeastern media establishment is in decline, and everyone knows it…

The vicious double standard is pretty obvious. Only the tabloids, for example, ran the photos of a piss-drunk Chelsea Clinton, panties exposed, falling into her car outside London clubs a few years ago. If Chelsea had been the scion of Republican bigwigs, those tacky scenes would have been trumpeted from pillar to post in the U.S. as signals of parental failures or turmoil in clan Clinton. As a Democrat, I detest the partisan machinations that have become standard in Northeastern news management and that are detectable in editorial decisions at major metropolitan newspapers nationwide. It’s why I, like a host of others, have shifted my news gathering to the Web.

As to your question “How have we come to this pass in America where the assassination of top government officials is fodder for snide jokes on national radio?” let me outline the path off the top of my head.

My first memory of such a case was watching Alec Baldwin in 1998 demand that Henry Hyde, the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, be stoned to death. Baldwin went on to demand that after that execution, the killing extravaganza should continue to the chairman’s house, where his wife and children would be killed as well, along with the families of other Republican politicians whom Baldwin did not agree with. Baldwin later claimed it was just a joke, but I remember watching this on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” and I can assure you there was nothing funny about it in tone or substance. Baldwin’s rage was chilling, his assassination endorsement grotesque.

Second, Randi Rhodes on her Air America show in 2004 compared George W. Bush to Fredo Corleone and said he should be taken out fishing — and imitated the sound of a gunshot. The third thing was the 2006 film “Death of a President,” featuring the assassination of George W. Bush while he was still a sitting president. I understand the purpose of the film was to explore the fallout of a modern assassination in the new media environment, but that could have been accomplished with a fictitious current president — as is done in countless films, TV shows and books. In an environment that treats assassination so casually, it was inevitable that it would become joke fodder.

Dem Leader to GOP: If You Don’t Vote to Bankrupt Country With Libs Your’re Unpatriotic

Forget about standing for the Pledge of Allegiance or supporting the troops at war…
Voting to throw another trillion bucks into the government sinkhole- Now that’s real patriotism.

In February, Barack Obama thanked the three GOP senators (2 now) for voting to support his record Stimulus Bill that no one had read and was created by dems without any GOP input.
Obama thanked them for their patriotism.

Today, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) accused the GOP of “wanting the country to fail” if they do not support Team Obama’s recession to depression agenda.
The Politico reported:

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), who has had an eventful couple of weeks to say the least, believes House Republican opposition to climate change legislation and the stimulus indicates they’re cheering against the good ol’ US of A.

“It appears that the Republican Party leadership in the Congress has made a decision that they want to deny President Obama success, which means, in my mind, they are rooting against the country, as well,” the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman told WAMU radio host Diane Rehm on Tuesday morning, promoting his new book, “The Waxman Report.”

Unreal. ‘Honduras Hillary’ Meets With Zelaya …Update: McCain Counters Obama

Filed under: Gateway Pundit — nhiemstra @ 8:24 pm

via: gatewaypundit

Hillary Clinton met with ousted Honduran leader and Hugo Chavez lackey Manuel Zelaya in a private meeting today.
The Obama Administration along with Marxist leaders Raul Castro, Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega are intent on reinstating Zelaya as President.

The pro-Marxist network Democracy Now reported on the meeting:

This was a typical Democracy Now report– President Zelaya, a Chavez-wannabe, was replaced by a member of his own party. The Honduran Congress and the Supreme Court both agreed that his actions were illegal. But, Amy Goodman says a “right wing” delegation was also in DC to talk with the Obama Administration.
Unreal.
The AFP reported:

Ousted Honduran leader Manuel Zelaya met with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington Tuesday, as the leaders who sent him away hinted at a possible exit in the crisis.

Zelaya — who the army prevented from landing in the capital Tegucigalpa during violent protests Sunday — could come back if Congress grants him amnesty, a spokesman for the Supreme Court told AFP.

“The only one with the power to give amnesty is the Congress,” said Danilo Izaguirre, spokesman for Honduras’ Supreme Court.

Zelaya’s highest-level meeting with the US administration so far in the crisis came Tuesday amid increasing pressure on the leaders who packed him away on June 28 over a dispute with the courts, politicians and the army over his plans to change the constitution.

“We are open to dialogue. We want to be heard,” interim leader Roberto Micheletti said Tuesday, amid world-wide condemnation for the coup, as well as violence on the streets.

A spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Tuesday condemned “excessive force” by authorities quelling protests in Honduras, after two deaths in weekend clashes with the army.

By the way, this wasn’t picked up by the state-run media but, Honduran officials announced yesterday that the bullets that killed one of the Leftist/Marxist protesters was not fired by the Honduran military.

Meanwhile… John McCain countered Obama on Honduras today. Senator McCain said President Manuel Zelaya clearly “was in violation of his country’s constitution.”

Iraqis Celebrate Joe Biden’s Visit By Torching US Flags

Iraqis welcomed Biden to Baghdad this week by torching US flags.

Greyhawk reminds us today (with video) of VP Joe Biden’s outrageous attacks against General Petraeus at Mudville Gazette.
He adds this on Biden’s latest double-speak:

While Biden ‘09 comfortably contradicts Biden ‘07, there is someone else who counters the newly triumphant Biden ‘09 and offers hope to those dismayed by his militant statements. That someone is none other than Joe Biden.

Biden tells Americans that we’re “securing victory” and assures our Iraqi allies that “he came with a message of continuing support for the country even as the U.S. military pulls back” and “the enemies of Iraq want to again reignite sectarian violence … they will fail.” But, at the same time Biden is “warning Iraqi officials Friday that the American commitment to Iraq could end if the country again descended into ethnic and sectarian violence” – something that just maybe an enemy whose strategic handbook is titled The Management of Savagery might appreciate hearing.

Greyhawk recaps his latest trip to Iraq here and includes this on how the Iraqis reacted to Biden’s latest surprise visit:

Protesters burned a U.S. flag in Sadr City, a crowded Baghdad slum, and chanted, “No, no for occupation! No, no for America!”

One of them, Mohammed Kathem, 40, an administrator, said many of the protesters hit the streets after an imam encouraged them to do so at Friday prayers.

“Biden’s visit sent the signal to us that Iraq will be divided,” he said. “Biden’s background doesn’t allow him to play any role in reconciliation.”

Senators Richard Lugar, R-Ind, right, Chuck Hagel, R-Neb (2nd from right) and Joseph Biden, (left), D-Del, walk towards the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq in June 2003. In December 2002 Biden said the US could be in Iraq for up to a decade. But then Biden voted to cut-&-run from Iraq along with Obama in April 2007.

In 2007 Iraqi politicians united in protest against Joe Biden and US Democrats.
Biden and the dems passed legislation to divide the democracy of Iraq up into three separate states. The Iraqis were so outraged by the meddling that they protested in the streets!

This is the BIGGEST Travesty to our Nation: Democrats Pass Largest Tax in History… Cap & Tax Passes 217-205

Filed under: Gateway Pundit — nhiemstra @ 2:58 pm

via: gatewaypundit

The democrats in the US House just passed the largest tax in history.
Breitbart reported:

House Democrats narrowly won a key test vote Friday on sweeping legislation to combat global warming and usher in a new era of cleaner energy. Republicans said the bill included “the largest tax increase in American history.”

The vote was 217-205 to advance the White House-backed legislation to the floor, and 30 Democrats defected, a reflection of the controversy the bill sparked.

It’s Cap & Trade Friday– The BIGGEST LIBERAL TAX In US History …Updated With Newt Tweet

The House will vote on the cap-and-tax bill today.
It is the largest tax in American history.

The state-run media is pushing hard for the junk science legislation to pass the House today.

Today is the planned vote on cap-and-trade, H.R. 2454. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called a vote on this massive boondoggle before the 4th of July recess.

Michelle Malkin has a list of representatives on the fence.
Power Line sees this record tax limping across the finish line.

Democrata know this program will cost American families thousands of dollars. Senator Barack Obama admitted this last year in an interview with San Francisco Chronicle:

Under my plan of a cap and trade system electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Businesses would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that cost onto consumers.”

Barack Obama admitted cap and trade legislation would cause electricity prices to skyrocket.
Cap and trade will likely cost $700 to $1,400 dollars per US family per year:

Democratic Congressman John Dingell (D-MI) summed up cap and trade at a Congressional hearing on April 24th– “It’s a Great Big Tax!”
It’s not just a great big tax… It’s the biggest tax in US history.

UPDATE: Newt tweeted:

Early this morning, Waxman dropped a 300-page amendment into it.

UPDATE 2: Michelle Malkin is liveblogging this cap and tax national disaster.

UPDATE 3: More from Instapundit– INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY ON WAXMAN-MARKEY: “The House of Representatives is preparing to vote on an anti-stimulus package that in the name of saving the earth will destroy the American economy. Smoot-Hawley will seem like a speed bump.”

Obama: Cheney’s Policies Have Made Us Less Safe

Filed under: Gateway Pundit — nhiemstra @ 3:24 pm

President Panty Waist insists that VP Cheney’s policies have made America less safe. Dear Leader also insists that his policies have, in fact, made America more safe.
Sure they have.

A Uighur terrorist swims in the Atlantic off the shore near Hamilton, Bermuda, after his liberation from Club Gitmo.

Real Clear Politics has the video:

SMITH: Leon Panetta intimated the former vice president was playing politics with national security issues. The former president has intoned his own displeasure with some of your policy changes. I think they feel like some of the things that you’ve done, in fact, are treacherous.

OBAMA: Well, I think when it comes to Vice President Cheney, he and I have a deep disagreement about what’s required to keep the American people safe. And I think that disagreement has been amply aired and certainly he has a right to voice his opinions. I would argue that our policies are making the American people safer, and that some of the policies that he’s promoted in the past have not.

Joke’s On CBS… Olive Garden Drops Letterman Ads For 2009

Filed under: Gateway Pundit — nhiemstra @ 2:20 pm

via: gatewaypundit

The joke’s on CBS…
The Olive Garden cancelled all of its scheduled advertising with Letterman this year.
The Politico reported, via JWF:

Following a week of back and forth between CBS late night comic David Letterman and Sarah Palin over a crude joke he told about the Alaska Republican governor’s daughter, the Olive Garden restaurant says it is cancelling all of its scheduled ads on Letterman’s “Late Show” for the rest of the year.

In an email to a Letterman critic obtained by POLITICO, a spokeswoman for the Italian restaurant chain wrote that “there will be no more Olive Garden ads scheduled for ‘The Late Show’ with David Letterman in this year’s broadcast schedule,” citing the talk show host’s “inappropriate comments.”

“We apologize that Mr. Letterman’s mistake, which was not consistent with our standards and values, left you with a bad impression of Olive Garden,” wrote Sherri Bruen, the company’s guest relations manager.

Bruen said the company “screens network television programs whenever possible,” but explained that “telecasts, such as ‘The Late Show’ with David Letterman, are taped on a daily basis, preventing advertisers from reviewing the content prior to airing.”

A spokesman for the company confirmed Thursday that for now it has cancelled all its remaining scheduled ads on the CBS program for the rest of the year.

Just a minor correction for the Politico– it was crude “jokes” about Sarah Palin’s 14 year-old daughter not “joke.”
