Word for the day: Socialism

Socialism is basically defined as a political and economic system in which the government owns the means of production and distribution of goods among the citizens.  Socialism advocates government not only owning the industry of the state, but also being responsible for distributing the profits equally among its citizens.

According to our Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”  In other words, our Founding Fathers viewed a limited government that allowed the citizens to work and enjoy the profit from their labor.  They did not view government as the owner and distributor of our nation’s industry and wealth.

My question now is this, what form of government is currently being advocated?

Why McCain Wasn’t a Good Idea

Meghan McCain just drew up some of her ideas to successfuly stimulate the GOP with victories in the next elections.

Her answer: “Go Gay!” In bold letters she exclaims, “Republican resistance to gay marriage goes against conservative values—and our own self-interest.” ( Source Here)

America is under fire. We have  terrorist after us, but they are not what I am referring to. We are under siege by our own morals. There is a new generation of young Americans that are growing-up moraless and tearing down our countries defining principles. I have never written an article on “gay marriage,” mainly because I don’t think it should even be an issue. I do believe that every individual is created equally. But let me put it this way, marriage is not two individuals, of the same sex, committing to each other. If they want to commit to each other I’m not going to stop them. But it’s not marriage. Marriage is an institution designed by God where a man and woman, with the blessing of their parents, make a covenant before God and other witnesses, to become husband and wife, until death do they part.”

These are good old principles, Meghan McCain. Principles that were not present in your dad’s campaign for president. That is why republicans lost. We left our principles.  The answer is not to become un-conservative and more valueless.

WorldMag.com had an article on “Meghan’s plan” and ended with some outstanding truth.

Republicans can take old ideas that once brought them victory and repackage them for a new generation. Embracing what has worked—economically, politically, and morally—has sustained America through many challenges. While a moral reformation cannot come through government, moral deterioration will advance with greater speed if political leadership does not remind the country of unchanging principles.

What shall it profit a party if it gains electoral victory, but loses its political soul?

Beyond the wit and humor – It’s so sad that the  Obama Administration, Congress, and the Senate would destroy the American business and it’s free-market. How can one business be bailed out and the other one suffer? Bring back the free market! Businesses fail. That is just apart of the game.

Principles That Worked

Today, (Yesterday) would have been Ronald Reagan’s 98th birthday. People may say that Reaganomics is no longer applicable to this day and age, but I would disagree. Principles never change, and they will always work.

The real meat from this article can be found in Ronald Reagan’s farewell address on January 11, 1989.

The way I see it, there were two great triumphs, two things that I’m proudest of. One is the economic recovery, in which the people of America created–and filled–19 million new jobs. The other is the recovery of our morale. America is respected again in the world and looked to for leadership. …

Common sense told us that when you put a big tax on something, the people will produce less of it. So, we cut the people’s tax rates, and the people produced more than ever before. The economy bloomed like a plant that had been cut back and could now grow quicker and stronger. Our economic program brought about the longest peacetime expansion in our history: real family income up, the poverty rate down, entrepreneurship booming, and an explosion in research and new technology. We’re exporting more than ever because American industry became more competitive and at the same time, we summoned the national will to knock down protectionist walls abroad instead of erecting them at home. …

Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: “We the people.” “We the people” tell the government what to do, it doesn’t tell us. “We the people” are the driver, the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast. Almost all the world’s constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which “We the people” tell the government what it is allowed to do. “We the people” are free. This belief has been the underlying basis for everything I’ve tried to do these past eight years.

But back in the 1960s, when I began, it seemed to me that we’d begun reversing the order of things–that through more and more rules and regulations and confiscatory taxes, the government was taking more of our money, more of our options, and more of our freedom. I went into politics in part to put up my hand and say, “Stop.” I was a citizen politician, and it seemed the right thing for a citizen to do. I think we have stopped a lot of what needed stopping. And I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.

Let’s stay in political shape!

Rocky Marciano is the only undefeated heavyweight boxing champion of the world. He never lost a professional fight in his career, a feat unmatched in boxing history. One of the main reasons Rocky never lost was his commitment to training. Rocky Marciano was always in fighting shape even when his next fight was months away. So what does that have to do with politics? Let me explain!

We cannot afford to wait until November 2012 to “fight” for our next President and other elected officials. We cannot wait for four years to oppose legislation that is wrong. Like Rocky Marciano we need to stay in “fighting” shape politically. We cannot afford to be out of shape at any time.

So how do we stay in shape? Here are just a few ideas.

  • Stay up on what’s happening in our country and your county! What are the issues that matter to you and what can you do to influence those issues locally and nationally?
  • Stay informed. Don’t allow the media to think for you. Form your own opinion on the issues by researching and investigating. Reading this blog is a great start as here you will find information that is true, moral, and right.
  • Stay vocal. Write your Senator, Representative, Governor, etc. to let them know where you stand on the issues. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper or start blogging. Let your voice be heard!
  • Stay grounded. Read our nation’s founding documents and let them remind you of why our nation was born. When was the last time you read the Declaration of Independence? When was the last time you read the Constitution? I’ve made myself a personal challenge to read these at least once every three months. As you read them they will breath new encouragement and enthusiasm into your love for our great nation!
  • Stay alert. The new administration has only been in office for one full day and there are already policies that I know I can never support. Did you know part of the Obama administration’s civil rights agenda is to support civil unions, oppose a constitutional ban on same-sex marriages, and repeal the military’s don’t ask don’t tell policy? We must stay alert!

These are just a few things we can do to stay in shape politically. What more can we do? I would welcome your comments and input! We can get our country back on track as we stay up, stay informed, stay vocal, stay grounded and stay alert!!!
