Befuddled

“Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Daniel 12:10

This is a rather straight forward verse in the Bible; it is a prophecy that demonstrates the morality of the world from Daniel’s day to the time of the end of days. It parallels the parable of the “Wheat and Tares”:

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13: 24-30

This parable represents the present and future state of the gospel church and the marvelous harmony of the old and new testaments. Here the Lord teaches the disciples, as He did with Daniel before them, Christ’s care of the church and the devils enmity against God’s people, and the devils desire to mix in the bad amongst the good to promote confusion and doubt.

“He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.” Matthew 13:37-40

So, the harvest is separated from the tares or (purified). Later that same harvest is taken to a threshing floor where the useful and soft heart of the grain is freed from it’s tough exterior shell. This is accomplished by beating or thrashing the wheat against a flat stone. Here is where the harvest is (tried),any grain that is not freed by the threshing stone is burned with the chaff.

Many of us witnessed this process take place in real time, live on TV, some of us in Hi-Def. The parable the Lord used this time was the Miss USA pageant, where Miss California was asked her opinion on the definition of marriage. When she answered that she was in agreement with the definition of marriage as defined by God, one man, one woman, she took a stand, she was that “tender blade that sprung up” and was separated from the tares.

The following days, saw Miss California facing a withering barrage of ill will from strangers and even from the very people that had promoted her during her run for the crown. A pro Gay agenda driven mainstream media invited her for interview after interview in an attempt to get her to rethink or recant her position. but, she did not wilt. She emerged from the thrashing a tender seed, bearing witness to the goodness of the staff of Life, the living word of God.

America is confused. The majority of us confess that we still maintain a belief in the things of God. It’s true that where the rubber metaphorically meets the road on issues like defending traditional marriage, whenever put to a popular vote, even the most liberal states like California, ironically the very state Carrie Prejean represents, voted to keep marriage as it ought to be.

Yet, when asked directly, many of those voters I would venture, would say they have no personal problem with the gay lifestyle. Then why not let them marry? This is the same disconnect that inexplicably allows a confessing Christian to vote for people who openly express and promote a platform that is clearly contrary to the word of God, because they have the right smile, skin color, party or rhetoric. Give us Saul they shout, give us Barabbas!

Perez Hilton’s question which sparked the controversy in the first place and his inflammatory (no pun intended) subsequent comments, seems to have received the tacit endorsement of the media. Some may denounce the rather base delivery of his stance, but they agree with his premise, that marriage should in fact be opened to include the gay community, and that anyone who dose not agree is a loathsome bigot.

I have seen Miss California compared to Anita Bryant, who actively campaigned to restrict special rights for the gay community, as well as a host of other less flattering historical personages. You would think that Miss California wore a sandwich board decrying “down with homosexuals” in lieu of a two piece during the swim suit competition.

Mr. Hilton said his question was relevant and Prejean should have “left her politics and her religion out because Miss USA represents all Americans.” Which of course made it okay for him to launch a vulgar attack against Prejean, his politics being so righteous. The glaring point that no one made to Mr. Hilton in any of the several interviews that I saw with him, or anyone that agreed with his position, is that if he hadn’t been a self serving narcissist bent on making himself the main story of the pageant, Miss California’s politics would have remained personal.

Mr. Hilton revealed his true intent in forwarding his controversial question when he opened his video blog the next day thusly:

“Hello. Okay. So Miss USA literally just finished and I have to make a video blog. Everyone is going to be talking about it. I was the YouTube moment of the show…”

Evidently he meant to bring about this firestorm. The media knows that the majority of Americans are not ready to mainstream the gay lifestyle, even though they promote it with the zeal of an evangelist. The medias schizophrenia on dealing with one of their most beloved causes is evident to anyone who is observant.

On occasion, when this issue is discussed, some practical fellow will point out to the proponent of gay marriage that if we make gay marriage the law of the land, it will open the door for the bigamist and other non-traditional marital permutations. To wit, the gay activist invariably turns up his nose and says “that’s ridiculous” with in air of how dare you compare us to them. This is somehow not bigoted behavior.

The current season of American Idol has a young man who it has been disclosed is gay after pictures of him sharing kisses with other young men surfaced on the internet. If this young man wins the contest and he gets the recording deal, do you think the record company is going to produce videos of him crooning to and kissing other men? Not likely, it would lack adequate commercial viability. You may have the occasional novelty song like “I Kissed a Girl” or some established heterosexual chanteuse being naughty with another girl a la Madonna and Christina Aguilera, all meant to titillate adolescents; but that is the exception that proves the rule.

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) Romans 2:14,15

We still know what is right and what is wrong in America, even with all the social engineering the country is subjected to by liberalism run amuck and the morally pluralistic left. Believers mustn’t be cowed. While the left is befuddled by those of us who are willing to take a stand for what is not only spiritually right, but proven to be healthy for a sober minded society, we have to do more to celebrate living epistles like Carrie Prejean.
