So, hot on the heels of President Obama’s lifting the restraints on embryonic stem cell research, CNN dispatches Dr. Sanjay Gupta to get the straight dope on the controversial issue. And in so doing, provided the right with yet another example of the intellectual double standard inherent in the liberal mainstream media.
Dr. Gupta’s go to guy for this policy matter turns out to be Bill Clinton, no stranger to this issue, Clinton, a noted intellectual and Rhodes Scholar, proves that apparently one doesn’t have to display a working knowledge of basic biology in order to be a Rhodes Scholar, or in this case, a CNN recognized expert on a subject of such poignant scientific and ethical importance.
An embryo, the catalyst of this philosophical bone of contention; does not become an embryo, until the mothers egg; containing her Chromosomes; are introduced to the fathers sperm; containing his Chromosomes; in a process science likes to call “fertilization”. Or at least that was the way It was explained in my 9th grade biology class.
Yet, President Clinton; in his role as expert, and as one who, as Dr. Gupta puts it “has studied the issue”, insures us that the embryos that are being used in these diabolical experiments, have not been fertilized, therefore they are not “little babies”. I can only surmise that my biology teacher was wrong. So much for my public school education.
i’ll get to the bottom of this thing, hold on a minute, and allow me to google this bad boy… Ah Ha, I was right!
Which would indicate that when it comes to rudimentary biology, Mr. Clinton is about as sharp as a bowling ball, to employ a leghornism.
Wait a minute; isn’t Sanjay Gupta the guy President Obama tapped as his first choice for Surgeon General? come to think of it, do we even have a Surgeon General right now? Hold on let me Google it. Phew! yeah President Bush’s guy Steven Galson is still on the job.
What happened to that sound Obama judgement we were told about? I hope he can find some competent help before he has to start campaigning to keep his job next year. It would seem that picking a competent staff, like the subject of when life begins, is also above his pay grade.
If Gupta was the Presidents first choice for top Doc., Shouldn’t he know that an embryo is already fertilized? If so; why is he not pointing out this fact to President Clinton? Is it because he doesn’t want to embarrass Mr. Clinton? After all, he is a Rhodes Scholar.
Do you think he would have been so polite if President Bush said something that dumb? How nice would he have been if Sarah Palin had made such a mistake?
Or could it be that the agenda is more important than the truth? Here is the truth; embryos ARE little babies.
The lack of fundamental scientific knowledge displayed by Mr. Clinton and Dr. Gupta, sheds a bit of light on why the left accepts absurd concepts like anthropogenic climate change and global over population with such ease and without critical thought. They don’t know any better.
Makes you wonder how many other common knowledge items the left may not have a firm grasp on. Like the fact that the earth moves around the sun. Socialism has never worked anywhere. Taxing employers more heavily does not prompt them to hire more people. You can’t fix your financial problems by borrowing and spending more money.
And, when a man’s DNA comes together with a woman’s DNA, the result no matter how small at the beginning, is a human being. It matters not how close our DNA is to that of Lophotrochozoa. Humans can only produce humans. And that production starts when that sperm meets that egg and says; “Great day in the morning! Must be jelly cause jam don’t shake like that!”
